Health
- Stealth 250 – I’m going into the office ~3 days a week which greatly limits my ability to use my little workout toy in little moments during the work day. I am quite dedicated to fitness but don’t think bringing this toy with me to the office gives off the right professional consulting vibe.
- As I expected frequently working from an office decreased my stealth attempts but I still hit 250. Will up it to 275 next quarter and try to hit 300
- Get average steps back to over 7000 – Right now my average steps a day are just under 5000 and I want to get that back to a consistent 7000 where I was a month or two ago. 10,000 feels unrealistic given my current life.
- Upside of going into the office is my steps are going through the roof. Daily average steps are 8,154 and just via transit I get about 3000 steps going to / from the office. Then adding in a workout usually takes me to 6000ish and then its just being intentional about taking a lap around the office after meeting or adding in some treadmill time towards the end of the day.
- Continued Headspace streak – I’m currently sitting on a 47 day headspace streak which is probably closer to 60 but honeymoon threw off my streak. I usually listen to 5-10 minutes per day during a walk or in the elevator and it has been really helpful to my mental health
- Just cross 100 days in a row which I am super proud of. Has been very beneficial to my mental health even at 5 mins or so a day. Will keep going with this
- Stretching and chiropractor progress – Been seeing a chiropractor 2-3x a week and have a stretching program that is 5-10 minutes a day that feels palatable. I’ve gotten better at bite sizing these into something digestible
- I went to the chiropractor 16 times in Q2 which is great and have become a frequent visitor at Stretchlab. Also doing my stretching app atleast 3x a week. Good progress more to do.
Wealth
- Hire assistant – I have been wanting to hire someone to help me with various personal life non work things for years and the burden of hiring has always pushed it to the backburner. I’ve been fortunate to work with the folks at Sagan to help with the process and I have final candidates that I feel good about. I’m not leveraging my time enough and this should help.
- Hired a wonderful assistant who has been helping me with Scrappy Capital, research and a few personal things. Have been going very well and will carry this into Q3
- Onboard assistant – Once I find someone I want to spend significant time getting them up to cruising altitude. Recognizing half the effort is getting them familiar with me and my world I have started gathering materials to make sure they understand me and the north stars. Sagan provides some phenomenal trainings I’ve been taking.
- Think I did a good job of getting her up to speed. It was an interesting exercise to get the way I think and like to work into someone else’s brain. My general theory is that I will never be able to get someone to be 10/10 the way I think but if i can get them to 5/10 I can help refine to 7/10 and increase the output of the things I do.
Everything Else
- Phone distance – I’m averaging ~6 hours of phone time per day which is gross to me. A good chunk of it is productive stuff like work, whoop, gympass, emails but a large chunk is social media. Now that I’m going into the office more frequently I want to get better at keeping my phone in my bag or away for me during the day.
- Improved a little, looks like I am down closer to 5 hours a day which is still gross. The limits on social media have been helpful and I think I’m using Whoop, Kindle and better apps more frequently than the naughty ones. The answer is going to be keeping my phone away from me during the day and at work.
- Experiment with more AI tools – Been getting better at working AI both into my working life flow as well as personal life.
- Plan on diving deeper into:
- Perplexity – loving my pro subscription and participation in their fellowship
- Fyxxer – Want to try this AI inbox management tool and see if its worth its stuff
- AI Studio – Plan on shoving all my health data into google AI studio or Perplexity studio and seeing what I can learn
- Cursor
- Replit
- Recap: Have gone from weekly to daily user of Perplexity which is great. Didn’t touch the other ones but will make time for that in the coming quarter.
- Plan on diving deeper into:
- Morning stuff – getting better at having some time for myself before starting the work day. Has gotten a little complicated with frequent visits to client office but that’s mostly an excuse I should be able to overcome
- Not good not bad. I am blessed by an easy commute which means I can be at my desk in about 30 minutes. Want to continue to crowd out time in the morning to do things for myself before life and meetings and work take over the day.
- Figure out birthday trip – Currently swirling on where our next trip should be. Torn between Europe, Central/LatAm, Carribbean and/or a cruise. Will have 3-5 days around July 4th. Using perplexity has been fun to experiment options
- We decided after an incredibly lavish honeymoon that we would be responsible and stay local. My wife surprised me by turning our apartment into a resort for the weekend with mini bar and a visit from a masseuse. Looking forward to Italy trip in the fall
